When you buy your new TV cabinet you will find it much easier to install it if you are prepared for it in advance. For example you need to ensure you have the instructions and everything in the kit that should be there. A quick check in advance of putting the TV cabinet together is all you need to do.
You also need to put away all the items in your current TV cabinet. Since most of this will be valuable equipment you should bring it all well out of the way for the duration. It will be much safer if you do not succumb to the temptation of just sitting it on the floor close to where you are building the new cabinet.
If you have lots of DVDs and videos in the existing cabinet, make sure you move these as well. You might want to take this opportunity to dust everything as well; even if they are all in drawers they can still get dusty from time to time.
Make yourself a big space on the floor for constructing the cabinet. This should be a lot bigger than the size of the cabinet itself, because you will need room to move around it. Once you have the room you need you will find it easier to build it.
Make sure you understand each step fully before you begin as well. Find the parts required for each step, read through the instructions so you know what to do and find the tools you need as well. When you do this you will have less chance of making mistakes because you won’t be rushing.
On the subject of rushing, don’t start building the TV cabinet if you have a limited amount of time to do so. If you have plenty of time you will always get a better result because you will be focused on the cabinet and not on what time it is!
When the cabinet is built, test it by lifting it gently at one end. If you feel it is too heavy get someone else to help you move it into place. Once this is done you can transfer all your equipment back onto it and settle back to watch television afterwards.
A little bit of forward planning is the best bet in this situation. If you follow the instructions and take your time, you’ll soon have the TV cabinet you want.
